Turtle Flambeau Scenic Waters, "The Crown Jewel".

Pure, clear, sparkling water and vast wilderness with over 20,000 acres and 200 miles of undeveloped shoreline. The area is a result of the 1926 construction of a dam to create a reservoir. The reservoir now encompasses nine lakes, three rivers and several creeks. In 1992, the site was designated a protected wilderness area, securing its rugged beauty and unspoiled wild character for generations to come.

The Turtle-Flambeau Scenic Waters Area offers an abundance of opportunities for wildlife observers. The flowage is known for its high density of bald eagles, osprey, and loon, is home to black terns, trumpeter swans, and over 150 other bird species. Up to 30 nesting pairs of loon use the area each year. In addition, a variety of reptiles, amphibians and mammals, including deer, bear, and wolves are found here. There are even occasional moose sightings.
