Description

Step into an unforgettable summer adventure at the Northwoods Forest History Experience at the North Lakeland Discovery Center! Young readers ages 9–12 are invited to join us for a week filled with hands-on activities inspired by the book Heartwood by Mary E. Burns. Throughout the week, campers will enjoy arts and crafts, history exploration, science activities, literature discussions, an author meet-and-greet, and even a special field trip.

Follow the adventures of Kelly, Evan, Ann, and Garth as they travel through time to help save the forests, bringing the story of Heartwood to life through interactive learning and discovery.

The camp will take place July 6–10 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. daily at the North Lakeland Discovery Center’s Northwoods Forest History Experience building.

Getting started is easy:
• Register for the camp if you are between the ages of 9–12 by contacting the North Lakeland Discovery Center at 715-543-2085 or visiting the calendar of events at discoverycenter.net.
• Pick up your copy of Heartwood and the interactive activity packet from the Frank B. Koller Memorial Public Library during the week before camp (June 29–July 3).
• Come ready for a week of fun, creativity, and adventure!

Space is limited and registration is required.   $100/Non-Member and $90/Members of the Northwoods Forest History Experience.
