Join us for this special Nibbles n' Knowledge program launching our Tiny Worlds program series as we welcome Carol Warden, from UW-Madison's Center for Limnology at Trout Lake Station to discuss zooplankton, microscopic animals that live adrift in our freshwater lakes.
We all know the familiar animals in our lakes; fish, turtles, bugs, ducks, and otters just to name a few. But our lakes are filled with tiny animals called zooplankton and so many of us don’t even know are there. We need a microscope to see them. They may be tiny but their importance is huge.
Carol Warden is a limnologist at UW Trout Lake Station. She works with the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Program collecting, identifying, and analyzing zooplankton year-round. The LTER zooplankton dataset is forty-five years running!
We will serve light appetizers and have a cash bar from 5:00 - 6:00 pm, presentation will run from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Registration required by noon on 4/7/26. Program is held at the North Lakeland Discovery Center Main Lodge. $17/Non-Member, $14/Member and $20 at the door for anyone who has not pre-registered. Thursday 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
