Summary

Explore the natural world through outdoor adventures. Depending on the season, we will hike, bike, ski or snowshoe while learning from Northwoods experts – naturalists, historians, geologists – in an engaging, recreational approach to nature education.

Description

Embark on a journey with the Discovery Center as we uncover the rich history and ecology of the Rhinelander area! Join Naturalist Jenna, for an immersive exploration of the Pioneer Park Historic Complex, where seven fascinating museum buildings—including the Rhinelander Railroad Museum and the Wisconsin Civilian Conservation Corps Museum—bring the past to life with engaging indoor and outdoor exhibits.

Next, we’ll venture to Holmboe Conifer Forest, a stunning Northwoods Land Trust property and member of the Old-Growth Forest Network. Wander beneath towering hemlocks, pines, and white cedars as we hike the scenic mile-long trail, discovering unique plant species thriving in this ecosystem.  Leave from this day-long adventure with newfound knowledge, lasting memories, and a deeper appreciation for the natural and historical wonders of the Northwoods.

Families are welcome! Registration is required by 8/13/25.  Transportation to Rhinelander will be provided. Please meet at the Discovery Center at 9:00 am. Be sure to bring along a lunch, ample snacks, water, and appropriate attire for a day of adventure.  Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.  $45/Member and $55/Non-Member.
