It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on (and sometimes in!) local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Join Manitowish Waters Historical Society (MWHS) member Kay Krans on a two-hour pontoon tour of Stone, Fawn, and Clear Lakes. This trip will depart from Clear Lake and explore the rich histories of these lakes with a wealth of historic images.  Discover the Native American trail networks, Manitowish Water’s earliest pioneer family, all phases of the logging era, a railroad depot, homesteads, early resorts, and businesses.

 

An email will be sent to registered participants with directions to the launch site and items to bring prior to the trip. Please note, there are no bathrooms available at the boat landing.  Registration required by 6/18/25.  $60/Non-Member and $55/Members of the Discovery Center or MWHS).  Friday 9:00 am - 11:30 am.

 

In the event of inclement weather:  If there is light rain predicted during the tour, we will most likely conduct the tour.  However, if thunderstorms/torrential rain is forecasted on the date/time of your tour, we will call you on the phone number you provided at registration no later than 8:00 am.
