Summary

It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on (and sometimes in!) local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Join Manitowish Waters Historical Society (MWHS) member Kay Krans on a two-hour pontoon tour of Manitowish and Little Star lakes, departing from the Blue Bayou Inn. Discover the indigenous community's cultural networks, logging camps, railroad landing, early resorts, Ojibwa village, unique residents, and Dillinger's gang. Participants will view many unique historic sites and supplemental historic images and documents. Directions to the launch site will be sent prior to the trip. 


Registration required by 6/18/25. $60/Non-Member and $55/Members of the DC or MWHS.  Participants will meet at the Blue Bayou Inn. There are no restroom facilities at the launch site. An email will be sent to registered participants prior to the tour with suggested items to bring.  Friday, 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM.

 

In the event of inclement weather:  If there is light rain predicted during the tour, we will most likely conduct the tour.  However, if thunderstorms/torrential rain is forecasted on the date/time of your tour, we will call you on the phone number you provided at registration no later than 8:00 am.
