Description

Traverse the Ice Age Trail with Naturalist Jenna and WI Master Naturalist Mike Schroeder on this special day hike experience. Participants will hike this out-and-back route, totaling approximately 4 miles, to Lookout Mountain which will offer scenic views of glaciated terrain. The Harrison Hills segment of trail is located on the Harrison Moraine is characterized by deposited ridges and hills dominated by deciduous forest. Along the way, participants are likely to encounter migratory birds and vibrant spring flora, both budding and blooming, making this a truly enriching outdoor experience.

This trail is moderate to difficult due to the topography of the area. We recommend only advanced hikers join us on this trek as we will encounter variable terrain and may experience some mud on the trail on our way to Lookout Mountain. Please bring appropriate footwear/attire, trekking poles, snacks, water, and a packed lunch as we will stop along the trail to eat lunch.

Mike Schroeder is the Hike Coordinator for the Waukesha-Milwaukee County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance, which typically offers several group hikes each month. Mike is also a "graduate" of the Alliance's "IAT-U" trail building mini camp and participates in trail maintenance and habitat improvement projects in Waukesha County and beyond."
