Description

What is a Junk Journal?  A junk journal is a handmade book filled with personal and recycled materials to store memories and ideas. Like its name implies, the pages are filled with materials that are usually thrown away. You give a second life to things you have. Think newspapers, old travel tickets, greeting cards, fabric scraps like lace and ribbons, mismatched buttons, stamps, and more.  Darcy has a plethora of items (that she will share with participants) to use for the covers, as well as interior pages!

What is the purpose of a Junk Journal?  You could use it as a scrapbook; a journal or a diary; you could use it as a “glue” journal, (which is a collection of collage pages that you create for inspirational ideas); you could use it as a coffee table book (eye candy); you could use it as a gratitude or spiritual journal.

What about the pages for the interior of the book?  We will show examples and talk about various ways to make signatures and pages for the book.
Future sessions will be available to work together on pages as “social working sessions.” (We will talk about these at our workshop.)

Why would you want to make a Junk journal?  To use your use your creative expression! You decide how you want your pages to look; what kinds of materials you want to use; do you want to add embellishments; do you want to add layers? And then there is the mindfulness and relaxation that comes with creating.

Registration is required by 3/6/25 .  Saturday 11:30 am - 3:00 pm.  $50/Non-Member and $45/Member.  Participants will meet in the Forest Room in the Nature Hall at the Discovery Center.
