Description

We are welcoming local educators and the public to join us for an exclusive Bird Study Skin Workshop with Naturalist Aidan Witthoff on December 11, 2024.

Participants will have the opportunity to create a bird study skin using one of the North Lakeland Discovery Center's (NLDC) specimens.  In addition to a Wisconsin Collector's Permit, if your organization holds a Federal Migratory Bird Permit, you may choose to take your specimen back to your organization to use for educational purposes.

About the workshop leader:  Aidan Witthoff is a self-taught taxidermist and started creating taxidermy specimens a couple years ago.  He was originally taught how to preserve mammal skins, but since then has focused on mounting birds.  Aidan has completed approximately 20 bird study skins/mounts.

If you need accommodations the night prior to the workshop, we welcome you to stay in one of our cabins for a reduced rate of $25/night.  Shared housing is available for overnight accommodations.
