Summary

Show us your creativity at workshops featuring natural materials, methods, and themes. An opportunity to learn new skills and techniques from expert instructors in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Description

Participants will learn a dyeing technique, using snow or ice, to create unique fabric fat quarters or garments! Participants will bring their own 100% natural fiber fabric fat quarters or garments (cotton, silk, rayon, or linen- in white or any color solid-except really dark tones) to dye. Participants should be able to dye and decorate approximately 4 pieces. T-shirts, scarves, baby garments, unique shirts, etc. would all be suitable for this class.

Bring a roll of aluminum foil and large, flat style plastic containers (dishpan size or larger) as they will be needed for this process. Alternatively, large flat boxes could be used and lined with plastic bags, so as not to leak. **The dyed fabric or garments will be going home with ice or snow still melting through the fabric or garments into the flat pan or box!!!

*Bring along a mask if you wish, and wear old clothing!  We will be using powdered dyes, in small quantities.  Dyes and other materials needed will be provided.  Children (age 8 and above) are welcome as long as they're accompanied by an adult.  Four (4) garments or fabric pieces per "paying" participant.

Registration required by 1/16/25.   We will meet in the Forest Room on campus in our Nature Hall at the Discovery Center.  Saturday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.  $50/Non-Member and $45/Member.
