It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Women and Water: Woven Portraits From Around the World Exhibit celebrates and honors water by portraying 39 women from over 20 countries who work with water, protect it and advocate for it. Featured are women who are scientists, water-walkers, teachers, farmers, activists and healers, who hold deep connections with water. Mary Burns has created this exhibit with her hand-woven jacquard portraits. Mary will walk the group through the exhibit located at ArtStart in Rhinelander and discuss the stories of some of these amazing women and the process of designing and weaving these pieces.

 

Participants will ride in the Discovery Center van along with Mary down to and back from the exhibit.  This traveling exhibit is on display at ArtStart in Rhinelander August 16 – October 27, 2024.  Registered participants will be contacted via email with more information on this program.  Registration required by 9/10/24.  $48/Member and $60/Non-Member.  Saturday 9 AM - 3 PM.
