Summary

It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Join Nature Conservancy volunteer Rod Sharka as he leads us by canoe across scenic Palmer Lake, down the Ontonagon River and across Tenderfoot Lake to reach Guido Rahr, Sr. Tenderfoot Forest Reserve. The cultural history of Tenderfoot Lake will be discussed as we canoe and then we will explore large tracts of old-growth forests and undeveloped shoreline as we hike around Mirror Lake, now accessible due to a newly created boardwalk. 6-mile canoe trip and 4-mile hike will be moderate to strenuous;

 

Pack water and a lunch. Restroom available at the launch site only.  Canoeing experience is required. Transportation from the Discovery Center, canoes, paddles, and PFDs will be provided. Registered participants will be contacted via email with more information on this program. Registration is required by 9/9/24.  $45/Member and $55/Non-Member.  Wednesday 9 AM - 5 PM.
