Summary

It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on (and sometimes in!) local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Join our Woods and Water team for an educational talk and snorkel program to learn about freshwater ecology and the importance of a vibrant and healthy freshwater ecosystem. We will teach participants how to identify aquatic invasive species that are harmful to native species within these freshwater ecosystems and learn proper removal techniques. Participants will be provided with a life vest, a snorkel with mask and fins, and learn basic techniques of snorkeling from our Woods and Water team. Our goal is that this program will engage and inspire participants to join our efforts in becoming environmental stewards. Children 12 and up are welcome to attend. Canoes will be provided to paddle to nearshore snorkel areas on Plum Lake.

An email will be sent to registered participants with directions to the launch site and items to bring prior to the trip.  This is a free program, however, space is limited and registration is required by 7/24/24.  Friday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
