Description

**PLEASE NOTE this trip was originally scheduled in our program guide for August 16th but had to be moved back to August 15th**

Join the Manitowish Waters Historical Society tour of Gangsters in the Northwoods on our comfortable pontoon boat touring the famous Manitowish Waters Chain of Lakes. You will learn how local citizens got involved in the liquor trade and were able to supply bootleg alcohol to Chicago and Minneapolis. Hear the story about the kidnapping of Minneapolis mob boss Leon Gleckman and the place the kidnappers hid him. Ralph Capone has a Manitowish Waters story as well. John Dillinger and his gang were not only at Little Bohemia but made themselves known to several families as they were trying to escape the FBI trap. Join us for a two hour tour and enjoy the stories and beautiful scenery.

An email will be sent to registered participants with directions to the launch site and items to bring prior to the trip. Bathroom available at the end of the trip.  Registration is required by 8/13/24.  $55/Members of NLDC or MWHS and $60/Non-Members.  Thursday 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM.
