It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on (and sometimes in!) local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Join Manitowish Waters Historical Society (MWHS) member Jim Bokern on a two-hour pontoon tour of Rest Lake, which will depart from Rest Lake Park. Discover the Native American cultural networks, logging camps, railroad landing, one of the state’s earliest forest ranger stations, Rest Lake dam mysteries, unique residents, homesteads, early resorts, and businesses. While traveling along the shores of Rest Lake participants will view many unique historic sites that will be supplemented with historic images and documents.

 

Registration required by 6/29/24 .  Participants will meet at the Rest Lake Boat Landing.  Restrooms are available at the launch site.   An email will be sent to registered participants prior to the tour with suggested items to bring.  $60/Non-Member and $55/Member (NLDC or MWHS).  Monday 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
