It is no secret the Northwoods is rich in water resources. These programs and experiences will get you on (and sometimes in!) local lakes and rivers, educating you on their fascinating link to local history and lore, ecology and importance.

Description

Join Manitowish Waters Historical Society (MWHS) member Jim Bokern on a two-hour pontoon tour of Alder and Wild Rice Lakes. This trip will depart from Alder Lake and explore the rich histories of these lakes with a wealth of historic images. Discover the Native American trail networks, unique canal systems that linked the MW chain to Lac Du Flambeau, all phases of the logging era, a railroad spur landing, homesteads, early resorts, and businesses.

An email will be sent to registered participants with directions to the launch site and items to bring prior to the trip. There is no bathroom available at the boat landing. Registration required by 6/26/24. $60/Non-Member and $55/Members of the NLDC or MWHS. Friday 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.
