Summary
Description
This event has been canceled due to low registration.
This program will introduce children to some of the interesting characteristics of small and furry mammals that live all around us. Mice, voles, moles, shrews, squirrels and chipmunks, oh my! We'll learn to identify different species by their appearance, and we'll learn how scientists collect data through live trapping procedures! NLDC Naturalists will go step-by-step through the proper protocols for capturing and releasing live animals. Children will not be allowed to handle small mammals, but will have the opportunity to assist our staff.
A morning snack will be provided, however participants must bring their own lunch, a water bottle, and have weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Child drop-off is between 7:45am and 8:00am. This program is intended for children ages 5-11 years old.
Registration required by 8/19/24. Wednesday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. $40/Non-Member and $30/Member. Participants will meet in the Torest/Water Rooms in Discovery Hall.
