Description

Northwoods Alliance works alongside and on behalf of communities to conserve forest habitat for the economic, environmental, social and intrinsic benefits to society. The Northwoods region is undergoing transformation due to forest fragmentation, and the need is great to protect some of these valuable natural features. The projects we will highlight have important habitat for rare species, and have high recreational and scenic value to residents and visitors.  Join Joe Hovel from the Northwoods Alliance for this evening’s discussion on Northwoods forest conservation.  Joe has been a passionate advocate for forest sustainability for decades. He was instrumental in creating the Wildcat Falls Community Forest, the Upper Wisconsin River Legacy Forest, the Pilgrim River Forest and the Headwaters Cedar Community Forest, and has facilitated conservation of other publicly-accessible lands.

Thursday, 5 - 7 PM.  We will serve light appetizers and have a cash bar from 5-6 pm, program will run 6-7 pm.  Registration required by 10/10.  Program is held at the North Lakeland Discovery Center Main Lodge.  $17/Non-Member, $14/Member, and $20 at the door for anyone who has not pre-registered.
