Hike Beautiful State Natural Areas in Forest County: Scott & Shelp Lake/Giant White Pine Grove

Join local naturalists and authors John Bates and Mary Burns for this wonderful hiking experience.  Forest County has 18 designated state natural areas, with a concentration of exceptional sites in an area east of Three Lakes. We will hike in the morning within the magnificent old-growth of the Scott Lake and Shelp Lake SNA, and in the afternoon in the Giant White Pine Grove SNA that are within the Headwaters Wilderness.   Good hiking stamina is required. For this trip we will cover 4 miles. 

 Registered participants will meet at the Discovery Center at 7:45 and ride in the NLDC van to the locations in Forest County (~1.25 hours away) and will be sent information on what to bring for the day.  Monday, 9 AM - 4 PM.  Registration required by 8/12.  This trip is sponsored by the Olson Family Foundation.  $75/Non-Member and $65/Member.
