Summary

Join us in celebrating International Migratory Bird Day! Explore the wildlife and natural beauty of the Wisconsin Northwoods with a variety of guided hikes and tours, bird watching expeditions, live bird of prey presentations, bird banding demonstrations, and interactive workshops during the 18th Annual Northwoods Bird and Wildlife Festival. Learn about migration, gardening for butterflies, and turtle conservation from knowledgeable experts while immersing yourself in the natural wonders of the area. Space is limited for certain events, so be sure to register ahead of time.
Breakfast on Saturday is included in registration, and lunch is included if you register before May 6. After May 6, lunch will not be provided by NLDC.

5:30am – Registration and breakfast at NLDC

6:00am – Sunrise warbler walks

6:00am – Bird banding with Bruce Bacon

7:30am-11:00am – Concurrent Field Trips

  • Iron County Hotspots with Zach Wilson 
  • TFF Auto Tour with Jeff Wilson and Terry Daulton
  • Powell Marsh with John Bates
  • Beaver Creek Hemlocks with Frank Schroyer
  • Pipke Park in Presque Isle with Colleen Matula

11:00am-12pm – Lunch @ NLDC provided by Martha Kelly Catering (included in registration before May 6. If you register after May 6, lunch will not be provided by NLDC)

12:00-1:00pm – Keynote presentation: Bill Volkert – Bird Migration 

1:15pm-2:15pm – Concurrent Workshops 1 (choose one)

  • Raptors of the Northwoods Wildlife Center with Bart Kotarba
  • Nature Sketching with Terry Daulton 
  • Build your own birdhouse with Ryan ($10 fee)
  • Let’s Build a Butterfly Garden with Mary Nelson

2:20pm-3:20pm – Concurrent Workshops 2 (choose one)
