Mercer Pines Snowshoe and Lunch with John Bates and Mary Burns

Join John and Mary for this unique snowshoe experience!  We'll hike out and back for a total of about 1 mile.  The trail is flat and goes through a hemlock stand and an alder wetland to get to this island of unmarked old-growth pines.  We'll take our time and stop frequently to discuss the unique ecology of old-growth hemlock-hardwoods and white pine.  You should have some snowshoeing stamina - two hours outside in the winter can be tiring!  After the hike, we'll eat lunch together - two kinds of vegetarian soups with breads and cheese, plus hot cider and tea.  

Instructions on hike logistics will be sent to registrants (we will be meeting to carpool at 9:40 a.m.).  Pre-registration is required by 1/25.  Friday 10:00 am - 12:00 pm with lunch at the North Lakeland Discovery Center from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm.  $40/Member and $45/Non-Member
