Deep in the heart of Iron County in Northern Wisconsin, the Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department, along with local high school students, are investigating the linkage between forest types, soils, water, and wildlife. Through hands-on research the team has been studying Wisconsin’s State endangered American Marten and its habitat, home range, prey availability and behavior. Strap on your snowshoes and join Conservation Specialist Zach Wilson on a fascinating natural history tour of the American Marten and the unique forests these animals occupy. Zach Wilson is the Conservation Specialist for the Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department. He has been the coordinator of the Woods and Waters project, studying Fishers, American marten, and the Common Loon for the past 22 years. Pre-registration required by 2/9. Registered participants will be sent information on where to meet for the program prior to the hike. Friday, 12:30 – 3:30 pm. $18 ($15 members)
