Description

Do you get lost in the woods easily? Have you always wanted to learn how to use a compass and map properly, and feel comfortable traveling off-trail? This is your chance to hone these skills on this outdoor adventure. Join retired Ottawa National Forest Conservation Education Coordinator Joe Panci to learn strategies on finding direction without a compass; the parts of a compass and how to use it; maps and their features; navigation with compass and map; and finally, practicing with a compass hike. Dress comfortably for the woods and some off-trail brush. Orienteering compass will be provided.  Program held at the Discovery Center. Fun for families, ages 8+.  Registration required by 8/6.  $20 ($15 members)  $10 ages 16 and under.
