Loon Nesting Platform Building

Through a new citizen science program volunteers will be constructing, installing, and monitoring up to 10 new artificial loon nesting platforms on the Manitowish Waters Chain of Lakes during spring 2015. The goal of this project is to increase productivity among nesting loon pairs on the chain by providing additional nesting substrate through artifiical loon nesting platforms. We need helping hands to build artificial loon nesting platforms on March 28 from 12:30-3:30 pm. No construction experience necessary. We may also be gathering vegetation to place on the platforms when they are installed.  If you have rubber boots and a shovel these may be useful when gathering vegetation, so bring them along. Indicate your interest in helping to build loon nesting platforms by signing up here.
