A River's Journey - Paddling High Lake to Fishtrap Dam

We'll paddle the Manitowish River from its headwaters to the Highway 47 bridge throughout the summer. The first leg of the journey starts with an 8.5 mile paddle through inlets and bays as well as across open water. High Lake has clear water, forested shores, and scattered islands, and is home to loon, eagle, and other wildlife. Entry into Fishtrap is more like a wetland than a creek due to the dam downstream. This stretch is home to numerous herons that can be found hunting in the marsh or roosting in the trees. Canoes provided.
