State Natural Area Series:
June 23 – Rice Creek by Canoe. This month we visit Rice Creek, which “features a two-mile stretch of creek surrounded by a large wetland complex of conifer swamp, boreal rich fen, sedge meadow, and northern wet-mesic forest”. We’ll explore this wonderful treasure and learn a little bit about all of its amazing natural features by canoe. $21 ($18Members). 9am-1pm.
July 14 – Frog Lake Hike. This month we visit Frog Lake, which “features an undisturbed wilderness lake surrounded by old-growth northern dry-mesic forest in a large lowland bordering the Manitowish River”. $12 ($9 Members). 9am-11:30pm.
August 13- Papoose Creek Pines Hike. This month we visit Papoose Creek Pines, which is “sandy-soiled flats bordering Papoose Creek support a medium-aged but representative dry-mesic to dry forest dominated by red pine and white pine”. $12 ($9 Members). 9am-11:30am.
September 8- Allequash Lake by Canoe. This month we visit Allequash Lake, which is “situated on gently rolling to rough terrain is a mature second-growth dry mesic forest surrounding the south basin of Allequash Lake. $21 ($18 Members). 9am-1pm.
