Ghost Bird, a feature length documentary on the Ivory-billed Woodpecker, will be shown at the Discovery Center on Monday evening, October 4th, beginning at 7pm. Showing of the film with be in the Center's main lodge, accompanied by popcorn and beverages. The film is sponsored by the Bird Club and proceeds will benefit the Discovery Center.
Description
Ghost Bird tells of the tireless search for the elusive Ivory-billed Woodpecker. Many obsessed and passionate bird watchers and researchers embarked on the odyssey to uncover the species' resurrected existence. Following hours, days and years of search for the extinct bird, the species is yet to be found. Diehards continue on the quests still today, convineced of the woodpecker's existence, and increasingly amazed at its ability to remain tantalizingly out of reach. New York Magazine describes the film as "spellbinding" and the New York Times as "a multilayered story that will fascinate practically everyone."
