Mushroom Foraging 101 with Nicole Villwock

Get into the woods and learn the basics of mushrooming with Nicole Villwock. We’ll cover recommended equipment, literary guides and a few of the identification basics to get you going on an expanding relationship with the natural world. The focus of this outing will be on edible and medicinal mushrooms foraged locally. 

Nicole Villwock is a transplant to the Northwoods of Wisconsin and has spent the last couple of years learning the basics of the fungi world. Although Nicole does not consider herself an expert, Nicole is excited to share what she does know, in a friendly, fun and beautiful environment.

Participants will hike ~1 mile off trail in search of mushroom species at Fallison Lake Trail in Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. Participants will receive detailed trip information at least 48 hours prior to the program date/time.

Space is limited and registration is required by 8/10/2026.  This event takes place on Wednesday, 8/12/2026, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  $20/Non-Member and $10/Member.
