Description
Children 11 to 14 years of age are invited to join the Discovery Center for Eco-Adventurers, exploring ecological concepts while adventuring in a variety of habitats found around the Discovery Center. Join the Discovery Center Naturalists on a Water Ecology Paddle Excursion to explore what plants and animals thrive and interact with each other in an aquatic environment such as a lake. Participants will get a first-hand look at aquatic plant species found locally, learn about animals found near/in water, and go on a leisurely paddle on Statehouse Lake. Although some paddling experience is recommended, Discovery Center staff will provide paddling tips to participants that are new to canoeing. PDFs will be required for all participants during the paddle. Participants are welcome to bring their own PFDs as long as they meet safety standards.
Children will be dropped off by parents and must bring along the following: water bottle, appropriate footwear/attire and any snacks deemed necessary for the comfort of the participant. Upon check-in, each parent will sign a waiver prior to dropping off child with Discovery Center staff. Parents and participants will meet at the front entrance of Discovery Hall. In case of inclement weather, indoor educational opportunities, like workshops and specimen exploration, will take place in lieu of outdoor activities. All activities and programs will be held at the Discovery Center campus.
Registration required by 06/23/2026. Thursday, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. $20/Non-Member and $16/Member. Participants can be dropped off in the Discovery Hall.
