Description
Step into the miniature marvels of nature! From the velvety green carpets of moss to the intricate patterns of lichens and the drifting beauty of zooplankton—this program series reveals the unseen worlds that keep our landscapes alive. Discover how these tiny forms weave together the fabric of the natural world.
Review the anatomy of mosses and features used for identification with a slide show presentation with Alex Graeff. Then, head out into the woods to discuss habitat, substrates, and communities. We will find and identify some “easy” mosses, and practice recognizing various features used for identification.
Alex is a botanist (more by hobby than profession) with over a decade of experience in identifying plants in the northern Great Lakes Region. He is also a (mostly) self-taught enthusiast of cryptogams like mosses, liverworts, and lichens.
Space is limited and registration is required by 4/15/26. $30/Member and $35/Non-Member. Friday 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
