Description
Discover the magic of ice-dyeing in this hands-on workshop as melting ice transforms fabric or garments into vibrant, one-of-a-kind creations. No experience necessary and families are welcome! All chemicals, dyes, and necessary supplies will be provided. White 100% cotton fat quarters will be available to purchase from instructor. Bring a dust mask if you wish.
Participants are required to bring:
- Their own 100% natural fiber fabric (fat quarters) (cotton, silk, rayon, or linen- in white or light solids) and/or garments to dye. Participants should be able to dye approximately 4 pieces. T-shirts, scarves, baby garments, unique shirts, etc. would all be suitable for this class. You can choose to bring garments that are light-colored fabric but try to avoid dark colors.
- A large plastic dishpan, (or larger) plastic container. The plastic dishpan-style container will need to hold your garment(s) with ice and dye on top to travel home in your car safely!
- Please bring a roll of aluminum foil to use to hold the garments away from the dye that will drip into the bottom of each container as the ice melts.
Space is limited and registration required by3/16/26 . Feel free to bring a lunch and/or snacks, water, etc., to enjoy during the class. We will meet in the Forest Room on campus in our Nature Hall at the Discovery Center. Wednesday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. $45/Non-Member and $40/Member.
